Museum Trunk Show, Meet-ups, and Pecans!

With November upon us, it's not too early to think about your holiday shopping.  You can start on November 16, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Fifth Annual SCMA Trunk Show, Unexpected Treasures.  It highlights jewelry, handbags, textiles, and toys from the Museum and features Heather Hall, fine felt textile designer.  Please rsvp by November 9 by email to

November also brings two opportunities to meet up with local Smithies.  On November 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, join alums interested in Chinese culture at a casual dim sum restaurant in the West Village.  On November 20, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, gather to have a drink or bite at our downtown neighborhood meet-up.   For more information and to register click here.

A longstanding Smith fundraising tradition is selling pecans. Dorothy Guth '50 initiated pecan sales more than 25 years ago, noting their popularity at Smith Clubs around the country.  And she got the attention of an important voice - Craig Claibourne, who was then food editor at The New York Times.  He wrote an article about the effort called "9 Tons of Pecans for a Cause." You can purchase pecans by clicking here.
