High Tea Anyone? Preparing Delicious Accompaniments with Instructional Chef Kate Sonders Solomon '00

               Sunday, May 16, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Join Kate Sonders Solomon, '00, in her kitchen for a hands-on instructional class as she teaches the preparation of scones and other delicious High Tea accompaniments, especially in preparation for the Club's "SpringTea (virtual) with a Live Tasting!" which will be held later that same afternoon. We do hope you will choose to attend the party but this class is open to one-and-all.

Kate will feature several of her special tea sandwich recipes with suggestions for variations.  Recipes, including ingredients, instructions and sourcing options will be circulated to all registered participants several days prior to the event.

You also will about Kate’s culinary journey, including experience as a professional cook, ‘recipe journalist’ and children’s cooking instructor in interactive discussion with Q/A.

  About Kate

Kate is a cooking instructor living in the Rivertowns of Westchester, just north of NYC. She provides a relaxed, kate-sonders-solomon-portraitcooking experience for adults and children. Prior to teaching cooking classes, Kate worked as a cheesemaking apprentice at Sprout Creek Farm in Poughkeepsie, and as a researcher on Molly O’Neill’s cookbook One Big Table. She began her culinary career post-Smith as a cook at Rialto Restaurant in Cambridge, MA. In addition to teaching cooking, Kate is a co-founder and producer of Rivertown Public Market, an annual open-air food festival in Westchester.

Kate has been a featured chef for Smith College Alumnae Webinar Series several times over.  Her “Virtual Cooking Class: Summer Gazpacho and Spanish Chickpea Fritters" on Aug. 27, 2020 was very highly received. Last winter she complemented the Club's annual pecan campaign with her brilliant instructional class, "Winter Holiday Cooking - focus pecans!"
