Smith alumna Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy ’02, 2012 Oscar-winning Pakistani-Canadian documentary filmmaker, will be filming her next documentary in NYC.  Her subject matter is the Music from Pakistan: Sachal Jazz Ensemble & the JLCO with Wynton Marsalis.  Sharmeen will be filming both performances on Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23.

Show Description: In this groundbreaking collaboration, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and the Sachal Jazz Ensemble, master musicians from Pakistan, will perform new arrangements, blending the sonorities of modern and ancient instruments and using the jazz form to integrate American values of blues and swing with sophisticated and highly evolved Eastern music traditions.
