Connect Event - Athena Film Festival at Barnard College
A Celebration of Women and Leadership in Film.
Now in its third year, the Athena Film Festival -- a celebration of women and leadership -- is an engaging weekend of feature films, documentaries and shorts that highlight women’s leadership in real life and the fictional world. The four-day festival, which includes conversations with directors and Hollywood stars and workshops for filmmakers, has quickly established itself as one of the most prestigious festivals of its kind. The festival is held Feb. 7 - 10, 2013 in the heart of New York -- at Barnard.
There are over 30 films showing from Oscar-nominated powerhouses like Beasts of the Southern Wild and The Invisible War to indie gems like The Girl and I Stand Corrected to the best in recent international films such as La Rafle and Violeta Went to Heaven. There are also three shorts programs and a series of special events such as workshops for filmmakers and talks with industry experts. Many of the screenings will also be followed by Q&As with the filmmakers.
